The world’s number one tourists

6 Apr

A bit late, but this is the NY Times list of 46 cool places to go in 2013. China has two places on this list- the Ningxia (宁夏) Hui autonomous region, for its wines, and Changbaishan (長白山) mountain, for its skiing. Naturally, I’d have hoped for more places from China.

In another first for China, Chinese tourists topped the world in spending for 2012 with a grand total of US$102 billion. They overtook the Germans and the US who are now second and third. If only they could have more respect, and not just patronizing or discriminatory treatment. Unfortunately, sometimes, the unscrupulous treatment is coming from fellow countrymen overseas.

Today’s Random China photo of the day:

Macau, a little piece of Portugal on China’s doorstep. Many mainlanders and Hong Kongers love to come here.
