A global social media powerhouse from China?

If there’s a Chinese social media outlet you’ve heard of, it’s probably Sina Weibo, but if there’s a Chinese social media service you’re using or know someone is using in the West, it’s probably WeChat. It’s a free messaging app, similar to Whatsapp or Line. It’s done very well in the international arena, amassing 300 million users (70 million who are non-Chinese) and being available in 18 languages. More Chinese companies should do like Tencent (WeChat’s parent company) and adopt a more direct approach to foreign markets.
